old memories and old pictures
Late night, remembering how things used to be. "Used to be" not so long ago. I have no interest in how things were any more than two years ago, with significant exceptions. Largely, I'm hundreds of miles from the friends I've had for many years with no way of seeing them. I'm seeing my sister for the first time in quite some time. I saw her for a couple of days in California, I think, and then before that it was my graduation in early December of last year. Thanksgiving will be a nice reunion. I haven't seen most of my friends for quite a few months, some of them considerably more than that. I've kept in touch best with Courtney, Felicia and Jess, and I haven't seen Jess since she visited us in Tulsa, Courtney since we moved here and Felicia since... I don't remember when. I'll get to see them over Christmas break, hopefully. The closest one is about 12 hours away. I keep up with Sarah as best as I can through LJ and Facebook as well. They're all pretty busy, since they're doing at least as much as I am, if not more, but they also make an effort to keep in touch with me.

I'm somewhat sad that I never hear from Kelly. I had known that I wasn't one of her Golden Children (that's reserved for Natalie, Jason and Kate), but I thought she would at least reply to my emails of grad school updates and requests for advice. Even when I left her a voice mail, I got a reply from Jason. Admittedly, it was his department, but it would have been nice if she had just said "I'm going to have Jason handle this." She was one of my largest inspirations to come here and do all this, and now I never get to talk to her.

Most people missed out on the failure that was my attempt at growing out my hair. Earlier this year, I decided that I was going to try to have something more than a fauxhawk. As it grew, I suddenly realized that I hadn't had much hair since I was in the eighth grade, and so I had no idea what to do with it or how to style it. Thusly, I developed this Scraggily Boymess:
